Renzo Staking: How to Deposit, Earn and Withdraw

Renzo is a liquid restaking route for Ethereum users who want to deposit ETH or supported liquid staking tokens and receive ezETH in return. The important distinction is that you are not simply locking ETH in a validator: your position is also directed into EigenLayer’s restaking system, where delegated operators help secure additional services.

What do you receive when you deposit?

You receive ezETH, a liquid restaking token representing your position. It is designed to remain usable in your wallet and across compatible DeFi applications while the underlying assets earn Ethereum staking and restaking rewards.

ezETH is reward-bearing: rewards are reflected through its value relative to the assets backing it rather than through a regular cash payment. Renzo says deposits can use native ETH or supported liquid staking tokens such as stETH, depending on the selected network and current availability.

Which protocols and token standards are involved?

The common route runs across Ethereum, Renzo’s smart contracts, and EigenLayer. Ethereum provides the base staking security. EigenLayer supplies the restaking layer, where staked ETH can help secure Autonomous Verifiable Services, or AVSs. These may include services such as oracles, bridges, and data systems.

ezETH is issued as an Ethereum-compatible token. In practical terms, it follows the ERC-20 token standard, the commonly used framework for interchangeable tokens on Ethereum. On supported layer-2 networks, Renzo may also use its canonical bridge infrastructure, with Chainlink and Hyperlane involved in parts of the cross-chain architecture.

How do you deposit ETH or a liquid staking token?

  1. Open the official deposit interface and connect an EVM-compatible wallet.
  2. Select the network and asset you intend to use. Check whether the interface accepts ETH, stETH, wstETH, or another listed asset on that route.
  3. Enter the amount, review the quoted output and transaction costs, then approve the token if approval is required.
  4. Confirm the deposit in your wallet and wait for the transaction to settle.

After settlement, ezETH should appear in the connected wallet. Keep enough ETH on the relevant network to pay gas; depositing your entire balance can leave you unable to move the resulting token later.

Where do the rewards actually come from?

The return has more than one source. The first is ordinary Ethereum validator activity. The second is compensation connected with restaking through EigenLayer and the AVSs supported by the strategy. The amount is variable, and restaking rewards depend on the active services, operators, fees, and protocol conditions.

Renzo’s documentation describes a 10% fee on rewards generated through restaking, while stating that EigenLayer rewards are passed through. Read the live interface and current documentation before treating any displayed estimate as a guaranteed rate.

Should you hold ezETH or sell it immediately?

Holding ezETH keeps the restaking position active and may allow its value to appreciate as rewards accrue. Selling or swapping it gives you liquidity, but introduces market price risk, slippage, and the possibility that ezETH trades below the value of its underlying assets.

What decided it for me is the purpose of the money: ezETH suits capital that can stay deployed, not funds needed on a fixed schedule. If you want to enter through Renzo’s staking platform, compare the displayed route, asset, network, and estimated output before signing.

How do you withdraw back to the underlying asset?

On the standard withdrawal route, you submit ezETH, it is locked in a withdrawal queue, and you later claim the available underlying collateral. The wait is not necessarily immediate because funds may need to pass through Ethereum validator exits and EigenLayer’s withdrawal process.

Renzo’s current documentation says the expected wait can be about seven days when the withdrawal buffer has sufficient assets, and roughly 10–15 days when it does not. The interface is the final place to check the applicable queue status and timing.

When does the answer change?

If speed matters more than cost, an instant-withdrawal option may be available. It can provide a faster exit in exchange for a variable fee that depends on the withdrawal buffer. If that option is unavailable, paused, or too expensive, the regular queue is the alternative.

Neither route removes the core risks: smart-contract failure, operator or slashing risk, cross-chain risk, changing rewards, and ezETH price volatility. Deposit only what you can leave exposed to those conditions, and verify the network before approving any transaction.
